During the academic year, students choose to live in either home-stays with French families (note: “family” can mean anything from a traditional family with parents and children to widows or widowers, artists, or young adults roughly your age), individual apartments, or shared apartments with other students enrolled in the NYU in France program. NYU in France has contacts with families and landlords who have been hosting NYU students for years, as well as with people who have been recommended by former program participants. Each situation is unique, and the monthly rent is relative to the size, location, and amenities offered in the apartment. In the housing questionnaire, students indicate their housing preferences and projected monthly budget. Students who choose to stay with host families can expect to find a comfortable room with a shared bathroom and kitchen privileges. All individual or shared apartments are furnished, but in many cases the kitchen furnishings are relatively modest.
In the summer, students stay in residence halls located in or near the Latin Quarter. Summer students have the option of signing-up for a meal plan which includes breakfast plus one other meal per day. This message has been edited.
